- Rosary for retired Uniontown farmer Roy Moneymaker will
be recited at 7:30 p.m. tonight at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Uniontown
with Rev. Anton Flour of Uniontown officiating. Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul S. Vevik at 11
a.m. Saturday, also at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be at
the Uniontown Catholic Cemetery. The 84-year-old Uniontown man died of
cancer Tuesday at his home. The son of Samuel David and Rachel Addie Cox
Moneymaker, he was born Sept. 27, 1907 at Knoxville, Tenn.,
and attended schools in Tennessee. Before moving west to Uniontown in 1927,
he worked in the mines in Tennessee and North Carolina. In 1927, he began
farming in the Uniontown area and married Bertilla Heitstuman
Sept. 27, 1938, at Uniontown. She died July 17, 1969. He continued to farm
until 1945, when he began working as a warehouseman for the Uniontown Co-op,
a job he held until 1951. He then worked for the Johnson (Washington) Union
Warehouse until 1957, when he returned to farming in the Uniontown area
and retired in 1972. A communicant of St. Boniface Catholic Church, he
served for many years as a volunteer fireman for the Uniontown Fire Department.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Survivors include three sons,
Daniel Moneymaker of Knoxville and David Moneymaker
and Maurice Moneymaker, both of Uniontown; 11 grandchildren
and a great-grandchild. Six brothers and a sister died previously.
